Synopsis

Boys like Vsevolod Ryabokin (Seva) are often described as having "a bee in their bonnet". He has a consistent passion to discoveries, new experiences, and almost daily adventures. He’s 10 years old, and while his behavior—or rather his unquenchable curiosity — might be seen as problematic by some, it's simply his way of broadening his worldview.

Adults around him consistently resist and fail to understand his experiments, but not all adults are wise, are they? Fortunately, he has loyal friends: classmates Pavlo and Zheka, and a stray dog named Monster. There’s also Lenka, though it’s unclear whose side she’s on — the boys’ or the adults’.

The story kicks off when the city mayor unexpectedly visits the school and announces that the class that best showcases their talents and potential careers on the City Talent Competition will win a trip to Lviv for Christmas. Seva is the only pupil not attending any after-school activities, so the class and some shortsighted adults see him as a threat to their chances of winning. But Seva sees himself as exceptionally gifted, too talented to limit himself to a single hobby. So if they want to see his talents, he's more than happy to demonstrate them.

Seva sets out to explore various professions: plumber, chef, astronomer, inventor, builder, detective, and artist. Each endeavor ends in comical misunderstandings, with his parents frequently summoned to the school by the vice-principal. No matter what they do, their son seems to end up in some kind of mischief — driven not by defiance, but by curiosity and "dedication to science."

As time passes, Vsevolod becomes disheartened by his failed attempts to discover his talent. But his loyal friends remind him of his unique gift: his extraordinary ability to communicate with animals, especially with Monster. "Seva, you’re a natural animal trainer! Isn’t that a great act for the competition?" His parents support him in preparing the performance, and Monster, gradually becoming a full member of the family, joins in the rehearsals.

After many practice sessions, Seva and Monster put on a lively, humorous, and surprisingly skilled performance as trainer and trainee. The entire school is thrilled, and their act scores the highest, securing the class’s victory!

The class embarks on the trip. Despite careful bag checks and the guard’s attempts to control everything, Monster somehow sneaks along. Thanks to Monster, the journey turns into an even more exciting adventure...
